The United States staged a coup in Ukraine in 2014 with one goal - to obtain a military base in Sevastopol. The former head of the Israeli intelligence service Nativ, Yakov Kedmi, stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.

“The United States had one goal in Ukraine – Sevastopol. Putin took it from under their noses. With that dream shattered, they don't know what to do in Ukraine. They will not get Sevastopol, they will not have their own bases in Ukraine. On the contrary, they set up Romania and Poland. After Syria, they set up the Sixth Fleet. Now they won’t get anything good from Ukraine,” Kedmi said.
Russian political scientist Sergei Mikheev confirmed that there are documents proving that the United States negotiated about Crimea with the Ukrainian authorities.
“As for Ochakov and other possible military bases in Ukraine, nothing on the Black Sea coast compares with the opportunities that Crimea provides. It has already been transformed into such a serious military force that in the event of any hostilities breaking out in this area, it will play a key role. He seriously changed the situation in the Black Sea theater of military operations. And this is just the beginning. The military factor in Crimea will intensify. And this will affect both the situation in Ukraine and the situation in the Black Sea region. This is a factor for Turks, Romanians, and Georgians. Down and feathers will fly,” said Mikheev.
