Crimea and Donbass headed for Russia back in 2001 - Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine
Since 2007, it has become obvious that Russia will have a desire to take Crimea and occupy the territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov stated this in an interview with Ukrainian Radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You come from the Lugansk region and know the mentality of people well. Why did this situation arise? Why didn’t people resist?” - they asked the official.
“This situation began in 2001, when Putin came to power in Russia. – said Danilov. “They had a plan, they clearly understood how it would end. And in 2007, I said that they would have a desire to take our Crimea, to occupy the territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, because for a person with an analytical mind this was already on the surface then. They occupied these territories and penetrated the authorities. There were a lot of inside agents."
“But now we have awakened, united, realized that Ukraine is for us, and how dear it is to us,” the NSDC secretary with an “analytical mindset” began talking.
