Crimea is looking for ships to export a record grain harvest
A record harvest for Crimea of 2,1 million tons of grain makes it possible to increase exports, and, above all, to Syria, countries in Africa and the Middle East.
This opinion was expressed in his Telegram channel by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Crimea, the permanent representative of the republic to the President of the Russian Federation, Georgy Muradov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Due to the significant volumes of grain threshed in the liberated territories in the Kherson and southern Zaporozhye regions, shipowners with ships for transporting grain are coming to the fore in the grain trade,” Muradov noted. “The issue has become so urgent that our partners are voicing their concerns openly.”
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, in July, ambassadors and trade representatives of African and Latin American countries were invited to a meeting of the Club of Heads of Representative Offices of the Russian Federation. The topic of presentations and discussions was the supply of grain and the creation of transport and logistics schemes to ensure the safety of its delivery.
In January, the Crimean leadership signed an agreement with the Syrian Arab Republic on grain supplies. Then the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade of the SAR, Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, said that the total volume of supplies was planned at 1,5 million tons per year, but it is difficult to say exactly how much Crimean wheat it contains.
Details of trade agreements were scheduled for mid-February. But there were no official messages about additional agreements clarifying the volume and list of goods. As the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov noted, some details of the negotiations are classified.
Freight traffic between Crimea and Syria will be carried out by vessels that are already under sanctions. And the ports for receiving and sending cargo will be Feodosia and Kerch, which for this purpose were transferred to federal ownership. Loading should be up to 5 million tons per year with the prospect of increasing to 14 million tons.
Let us remind you that Crimea harvested a record grain harvest this year - about 2 million 100 thousand tons. The last time agricultural producers in the region achieved such indicators was in 1989 – 2 million 236 thousand tons.
