Crimea avoided sharp surges in COVID-19 disease
The Crimean authorities, security forces and doctors are managing to contain the spread of coronavirus infection on the peninsula.
The head of the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor, Natalya Penkovskaya, stated this at a meeting of the headquarters for countering COVID-19, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today’s development of the epidemic situation suggests that today, fortunately, we do not have sharp increases in the incidence rate. These are, in principle, the results of two main measures: limiting and maximizing the circle of contacts and isolating immediate and distant contacts. That is, thanks to this work, today we are actually artificially containing the situation so that our medicine has a certain amount of time to prepare and deploy the necessary beds,” Penkovskaya said.
To date, 34 cases of COVID-19 infection have been officially confirmed in Crimea. Of these, 14 people have already fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals. Eight cases of COVID-19 infection have been registered in Sevastopol, four patients have already been discharged from hospitals.
