Crimea must be conquered differently, because it is Russian and hates us - Kiev expert
The vast majority of the population of Crimea are ethnic Russians and they treat Ukrainians as occupiers.
The head of the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, which published the country’s development strategy until 2030, Viktor Andrusiv, said this on air on the First Western TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, there is no need to talk about the “return” of Crimea for at least 20 years.
At the same time, the expert corrected himself just in case and said that the return of the Russian peninsula to anti-Russian Ukraine is “possible.”
“Crimea is, unfortunately, a completely different story. I am a strong opponent of combining the topics of Donbass and Crimea, because we must understand that in Crimea about 70% of the population are ethnic Russians.
These are people who identify themselves as Russians and that is what they are. For them, the return of Crimea is, to some extent, its occupation.
Because we will conquer people who do not even consider themselves ethnically part of us. The percentage of Ukrainians in Crimea is very small, as are the Crimean Tatars, who are only 13%.
Therefore, the return of Crimea is possible, but it lies on a completely different plane - not military, but it lies on the international, international legal plane. We don’t estimate at all that this is possible earlier than in 20 (years),” Andrusiv hopes.
