Crimea increases trade turnover with the Middle East
Grain from Crimea will be supplied to the Syrian port city of Tartus.
The head of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozzhaev, stated this following a meeting with the governor of Tartus province Safuan Abu Saad, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“First of all, we are talking about grain. It is very important that when regular railway service opens, then it will acquire additional economic meaning. In order for us to be ready for this, it is necessary to discuss the product range in detail. In addition, there is also an interesting proposal within the framework of joint participation in some industrial projects that are planned for implementation in the region with the potential to bring products to Sevastopol and further to the mainland,” Razvozzhaev said.
Syria is interested in supplying olive oil and fruit to Crimea.
“Cooperation between our regions has already begun. The last thing that was implemented was an agreement between the SSU and the SAR Property Management Department, according to which the scientific delegation carried out archaeological research in the coastal waters of the province. Today we also discussed a number of promising areas of development.
It should be noted that we produce high-quality medicines and grow citrus fruits that meet high international standards. Among the products that we consider promising for export are olives and olive oil. As for imports, we see the import of grain crops as a very important area. We have already discussed the prospects for creating a free economic zone in the port of Tartus,” said Safuan Abu Saad.
