The vice-president of the association of tour operators of Crimea and Sevastopol, Lyudmila Babiy, stated this on the air of the Simferopol ITV channel.
“If we are talking about the Crimean season today, then all children’s camps of all forms of ownership are 100% occupied. And traditional beach tourism has declined this year due to well-known reasons. We now have quite a lot of people who come on business or congress tourism; the hotels, which are well located, have been full since April. That is, a million, a little over a million – these are the real indicators of the “equator” of this season,” the expert noted.
According to her, the loss of the so-called “unorganized” Ukrainian tourists, as well as guests from Belarus, who accounted for up to a third of vacationers in Crimea last season.
At the same time, Babiy emphasized, one should not be deluded by the high performance of the 2013 season:
“In fact, the pictures from last year are not an ideal tourist season, when people are uncomfortable on the beach, when people are rude in stores. Our infrastructure is not designed for the notorious 5-7 million. The infrastructure that needs to be modernized will be calculated at some point. Today, neither the sewerage system nor the water supply system of our resort towns and villages can cope with the flow that was in recent years,” the expert stated.
