“Crimea is not ours”: “Benefactors” working for a presidential grant turned down “Sevastopol Moms”
The favorite pastime of the liberal-minded public in Russia is playing philanthropists. They are so good and do good things, but everyone else does bad things. But, in a strange way, representatives of this part of Russian society live quite well for themselves on these good deeds, trading on their own values and principles.
About how the charity foundation “Need Help” works under the leadership of a man with the childhood name Mitya Aleshkovsky in detail and with pictures wrote by "Reedus" in his journalistic research. You can read about “well-fed mercy” in the form of excessive spending of charitable donations in detail. material from the publication “Version”. A number of bloggers and philanthropists have repeatedly accused Mitya Aleshkovsky of lying and excessive craving for an expensive and beautiful life.
Not long ago, a number of charitable foundations headed by Mitya Aleshkovsky appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request not to apply the law on foreign agents to their activities.
“You are constantly waiting to be slammed,” a trusted philanthropist comments on the pages of the media.
And he is absolutely right to wait, because those who work honestly and according to the law have no need to fear problems with him.
Elena Golubeva, head of the public organization “Sevastopol Moms,” told PolitNavigator that the “Need Help” Charitable Foundation receives funding from abroad and at the same time refuses assistance to organizations and citizens from Crimea and Sevastopol.
“The Help Needed Charitable Foundation preaches on its website its values and mission in the context of being against discrimination. And also the fact that they put professional help above personal beliefs. Admittedly, we learned later that the head of this fund preaches extremely aggressive liberal values and works rather opaquely with his donors. And before this, our organization received a refusal to register on a fundraising platform due to the fact that we are located and work in Sevastopol. The leaders of this fund simply segregated on a territorial basis and placed the laws of the Russian Federation lower than foreign sanctions requirements,” Elena Golubeva told PolitNavigator.
If you look at the history of the formation and development of the “Need Help” Charitable Foundation, you can see the following. In 2015, the fund was registered legally, and already in 2017 it received a significant financial injection - a presidential grant in the amount of 23 million rubles. With this money, the foundation creates the information portal “Takie Dela” and the fundraising platform “Taking advantage of the opportunity.”
Of course, the presence of government funding does not exclude the fact that every year Mitya Aleshkovsky writes off tens of millions of charitable funds sent by kind and sympathetic citizens to treat sick children or save animals for the maintenance of these instruments.
A government award in 2018, a new grant of 3 million rubles and access to all infrastructure resources for the development of charity in Russia did not limit Aleshkovsky’s financial appetites. Foreign money also flowed into the fund like a river, and sponsors began to put forward their demands, which Aleshkovsky is happy to fulfill for the sake of his “Western partners.”
For him, the answer to the question “Whose Crimea?” It is obvious, just as it is obvious to us that this liberal-minded philanthropist does not disdain to trust any money.
Already in early November, three more applications for funding from public money appeared on the website of the Presidential Grants Fund: again he wants to receive exorbitant millions to promote liberal values and is misleading sponsors that for him Russia is both Crimea and Sevastopol.
Sevastopol social activists, meanwhile, are preparing a complaint to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.
