Crimea is taking away poor tourists from Sochi
Crimea managed to increase its share in the domestic Russian tourism market, displacing the Krasnodar Territory. However, this happened at the expense of vacationers with low incomes, the Kommersant newspaper writes today.
“The share of Crimea in the structure of booking tours within Russia for this summer increased from 39% to 45%, and the Krasnodar Territory decreased from 60% to 54%. But the peninsula still attracts mainly tourists with a low budget, and the Krasnodar Territory is chosen by travelers focused on a more comfortable holiday,” the publication says, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Crimea is a low-cost tourism market, people want to save money,” says Sergei Romashkin, general director of the Dolphin tour operator.
50% of organized travelers in Crimea choose guest houses and recreation centers, 27% stay in boarding houses, 11% in three-star hotels, 4% in four-star hotels. In the Krasnodar Territory, 47% of tourists stay in three-star hotels, and 10% choose four-star hotels.
