Crimea confirmed the results of the referendum
The results of the presidential elections in Crimea confirmed the results of the referendum on the reunification of the peninsula with Russia, which took place in March 2014.
Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko stated this today.
“It is impossible not to note that Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin received absolute support in Crimea and Sevastopol. More than 90% supported Putin. The results fully confirmed the results of the 2014 referendum. We once again showed the whole world that Crimeans are grateful to Russia for supporting their free expression of will,” Matvienko said.
She also noted that strong external pressure was exerted on Russia, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The results of the past elections are all the more indicative because they took place under unprecedented external pressure, which reached political hysterics especially in the week before the elections. There were coordinated hacker attacks on election commission servers from dozens of countries, preventing our citizens from voting, as happened in Ukraine,” Matvienko said.
