The Kiev newspaper “Young Ukraine” writes about this.

Let us remind you that the dispute between Ukraine and Crimean museums regarding the ownership of the exhibits exhibited in the museum has been going on for about eight months. About a year ago, a number of museums on the peninsula, together with Ukrainian colleagues, formed an exhibition in Amsterdam. According to the agreement, Scythian gold could be there until January 21 of this year. Now the fate of the valuables must be decided by a Dutch court.

“We are talking about an exhibition from the Crimean and Kyiv museums, which arrived at the Aland Pearson Museum in Amsterdam in February 2014, and was supposed to return home in May. However, from February to May, many tragic events occurred, as a result of which the word “home” began to be understood differently in Ukraine and on its annexed peninsula. The Åland Pearson Museum had until January 21, 2015 to donate its collection of Scythian gold to one party or another. Since this was never done, the case will be considered by the court. The first meeting will be held behind closed doors, where the history of the dispute will be presented. It is still unknown when and how the hearings on the merits of the case will take place. After the court verdict, the museum will transfer the collection to the party that the judges recognize as the winner of the process,” notes Young Ukraine.

It should be noted that the exhibition features 584 objects, 19 of which have already been returned to Kyiv, and the rest belong to museums on the peninsula.

“As for the Crimean museums, they will certainly receive the Scythian gold back. But not before the moment when the peninsula returns to the jurisdiction of Ukraine,” the Kiev newspaper assured.
