“Intelligence activity among the Ukrainian military” is to blame for the fact that the military in Crimea went over to the side of Russia.

This was stated during interrogation at the court hearing in the case of treason against Yanukovych by the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy, who acts as a witness in the case, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I have already said what state not only the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but also the SBU were in. Therefore, most of the strong units in Crimea, unfortunately, went over to the side of the occupier. I am sure that there was also many years of training and undercover activity among the Ukrainian military and security and naval personnel,” he said.
Answering the defense’s question about what he personally did to prevent the actions of the “occupier and aggressor,” and why weapons were not used to protect objects in Crimea, Andrei Parubiy stated that he organized volunteer formations (which largely happened after events - Ed).
“Actually, that’s why for me, as the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, one of the main tasks was the formation of volunteer formations. Understanding the state of security and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, I was one of those people who were on the Maidan, I organized people who later took part in the hostilities in Donbass. I made every effort to do this and I am proud that I was able to mobilize the Ukrainian Armed Forces, then stop the advance of Russian sabotage groups and then even return a significant part of the territory. I am proud that I contributed to the failure of the Russian Spring plan. I consider this my significant contribution to the defense of Ukraine from Russian aggression and occupation,” he said.
