The President announced this today at a meeting with representatives of the All-Russian Popular Front.
“Unfortunately, there is a lot there, almost everything is neglected. Some things are just surprising how neglected it is. We have a lot of problems, but there are even more,” Putin described the current economic situation in the KFO.
“But I know for sure that the economic potential of this territory is very large. And I think that in the near future, in the next few years (maybe even earlier than a few years), Crimea will turn from a subsidized territory into a donor. There is everything for this: a small but quite efficient industry, perhaps, good recreation on the southern coast, indeed, there is a very promising infrastructure - five or six deep-water ports. These are all very effective structural units of the peninsula's economy. And if you approach their development competently, the result will be quite fast and noticeable,” the head of state believes.
