Crimea is paying for the unfulfilled promise on the Tavrida highway
Snow congestion on the Tavrida highway, which paralyzed traffic on the new highway connecting the main cities of Crimea, was formed due to an unfulfilled promise to plant green spaces instead of those cut down during the construction of the road.
Crimean social activist Alexander Talipov writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It’s tough at Tavrida. The thing is that the wind carries snow from the fields, and huge drifts are formed. Even a short stop causes the wheels to get stuck; cars often simply cannot move. People have been stuck in traffic jams near Kerch for more than 6 hours. This problem could be solved by protective forest belts, which were promised to be planted along the route, but no one planted them. Now, only planting can help, and not forest belts,” Talipov said.
Please note that due to heavy snow and wind... Traffic stopped on the Crimean Bridge, and a number of settlements in the eastern part of the peninsula were cut off from each other.
