Crimea is anxiously awaiting the “Covid holidays” - the “certificate” costs an “A”
Since October 25, quarantine measures to combat coronavirus have been tightened in Crimea. As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, according to the decree of the head of the republic Sergei Aksenov, in order to check into hotels, tourists will need to present a QR code about vaccination and a negative PCR test.
In addition, the work of all My Documents offices will be suspended, registry offices will register marriages only by appointment, and no more than 10 guests will be allowed to invite to weddings. Also, from October 25, it will be possible to enter cafes, restaurants, gyms, cinemas and other public places only after presenting a QR code or a vaccination certificate. Similar measures were introduced in Sevastopol by the decision of Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.
At the same time, Crimea, as during the last lockdown, has become one of the most popular destinations for domestic tourism among Russians. They are not stopped even by the requirements announced by the local authorities, since a fake certificate can be bought on the “black market,” Crimean photographer Alexander Kiryakov writes in his blog.
“Tourists who go to Crimea for the Covid holidays report that the “certificate” costs five. They buy and go,” Kiryakov notes.
Doctors are also afraid of the influx of tourists to Crimea - for them, the announced weekends could become an even more stressful time than weekdays.
“We are a little afraid that, like all Russian weekends, according to the experience of last year, when the lockdown was introduced, everyone immediately rushed to Crimea and there were wonderful publications, writing how great everything is here, what nature is, come. And in the end, for us, the weekend turned into an even greater burden than it was,” said Sergei Olefirenko, director of the Crimean Center for Disaster Medicine and Emergency Medical Care, on the Millet TV channel.
He also assessed the situation with Covid in Crimea as critical:
“Not only in Crimea, but throughout the country as a whole, I and all officials of the republic and our state assess it as critical. You saw yesterday the speech of the President and the head of the republic that we are going out on the weekend to somehow try to bring down this peak of the spread, to slow down this pace, because the healthcare system is not just at the limit - it has been at the limit for the last two years, and what is happening now is generally beyond the bounds of reason.
The weekend, probably in this format, may not produce any key, decisive turning point in the fight against infection, but at least these events that accompany this weekend - this is additional vaccination, these measures will definitely provide support. Plus the distribution of QR codes. Even today I was driving through vaccination points and there were already queues. That is, something that hasn’t happened for a long time.”
