According to Tamar, Ukraine expects that if Crimea is captured, power in Russia will be overthrown.

“I believe that for Ukraine to end the war is to regain Crimea. Even more so than Donbass, because Crimea is the basis of the Kremlin regime and Kremlin propaganda. There was so much at stake on Crimea that if you take Crimea away from the Russian regime today, the only really tangible achievement of Putin’s power, it will knock the foundation out from under the feet of the Kremlin regime,” the officer said.

“And Crimea has become much more than just a resort place, more than just a peninsula, a tasty piece of Eastern Europe. Crimea has become an absolute symbol of this war. It’s like Stalingrad during World War II,” said Tamar.
