On the anniversary of the referendum, Crimea asked Moscow to close the border with Ukraine
The Crimean authorities propose that the Russian leadership support the initiative to close the peninsula’s border with Ukraine due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus. In the republic itself, public events on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the referendum on reunification with the Russian Federation have already been limited.
“All preventive measures are being taken at the border, now with Vladimir Andreevich (Konstantinov, - author.) and the head of the FSB department for Crimea talked. Today we are taking the initiative to the capital of our Motherland so that the federal authorities make a decision to close the border of Crimea with Ukraine,” the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov told reporters.
On the anniversary of the referendum on the reunification of Crimea and the Russian Federation, festive events of more than 3 thousand people are limited on the peninsula. In the morning, the leadership of the republic held a ceremonial laying of flowers at the monument to the People's Militia.
At the same time, no emergency measures have yet been taken in neighboring Sevastopol.
Earlier, State Duma deputy from Sevastopol Dmitry Belik said that he would demand tightening sanitary and epidemiological control on the border of Crimea with Ukraine.
