Crimea will be accessible to Russians by water and air during the holiday season
Simferopol, March 18 (Navigator, Astra Yazyka) – Crimea cannot vouch for the safety of the railway route to the resort through the territory of Ukraine. Moreover, Russians will have to go through customs and passport control twice to enter the peninsula.
As a Navigator correspondent reports, the Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Crimea, Elena Yurchenko, announced this at a press conference in Simferopol.

“This problem has arisen. Tourists mainly came to us by rail, and now they will cross the border twice if we are talking about Russian tourists,” the minister noted.
According to her, it is impossible to guarantee the safety of railway travel for Russians on the territory of Ukraine. In this regard, there are two ways to get to the resort - air travel and the Kerch ferry crossing.
“We have entered into a negotiation process with Aeroflot to reduce prices for air tickets to Crimea,” Yurchenko said. “Yakutia has already agreed that prices for flights from this republic will be reduced.”
In addition, to organize regular flights from the regions of the Russian Federation, it is planned to use the Belbek airfield near Sevastopol.
The minister noted that last year 380 thousand Russian tourists used the Kerch crossing. To increase its capacity, the Ministry of Resorts will request additional ferries capable of transporting not only road transport, but also trains.
“Moreover, this route will not require customs clearance,” Yurchenko emphasized.
According to her, the resort department’s task is to prevent a decline in the industry’s 50 billion-dollar turnover, of which tourists spend 15 billion UAH on accommodation, the same amount on transport and leisure, and 20 billion UAH on food and manufactured goods.
“So read how much we will lose. 100 thousand families are involved in the tourism sector,” the minister indicated.
She added that Ukrainian insurance funds do not confirm previously booked trips to Crimean health resorts.
“Only the sanatorium “Ukraine” won a tender for UAH 19 million. It’s not clear what will happen to these vouchers,” Yurchenko concluded.
Let us remind you that according to data from mid-March, the tourist flow to Crimea decreased by a third. The same drop is observed for the early booking campaign, and the prepayment for already booked rooms for the summer season is no more than 1%.
