Crimea has become part of Russia for thousands of years and no fluctuations in the ruble/dollar exchange rate will change this. Former People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Nikolai Levchenko stated this on the talk show “Sunday Evening”.

According to him, Russians do not care what the ruble exchange rate will be due to the annexation of Crimea.
“When Kazan was annexed, no one remembers what the ruble exchange rate was, but Kazan is in Russia. Crimea will remain in Russia for thousands of years. Nobody cares what the ruble exchange rate will be now, because this is a historical process – a turning point is taking place in the world,” Levchenko said.
It is worth noting that last year Levchenko, who was considered a creature of Rinat Akhmetov, was far from being so categorical; he advocated the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and his position changed only after a criminal case was opened against him in Kiev, and he himself is now forced to go into hiding in Russia.
