Crimea is among the leaders in laboratory detection of the virus
Crimea is one of the five regions of the Russian Federation with the most extensive laboratory testing of suspected cases of the new coronavirus.
The head of Rospotrebnadzor for Crimea and Sevastopol, Natalya Penkovskaya, stated this at a meeting of the headquarters for countering the new strain of coronavirus, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the head of the department, the peninsula is second only to Moscow, St. Petersburg and two large regions.
“Today, if you see the table of regions in the ranking of detection of new coronavirus infection in the territories of the constituent entities, then Crimea is in the top five of those regions that have the most extensive laboratory testing. This is despite the fact that we actually have one working - it is clear that in addition to Moscow, St. Petersburg and two other large regions, we are among these five - despite the fact that only the institution of the sanitary and epidemiological service is working,” Penkovskaya said.
She also said that from April 6, a new laboratory will begin operating in Simferopol, which will be able to check the tests of those suspected of being infected with coronavirus. It will be located on the basis of the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital.
