Crimea will greet the coming year with military restraint - decision of the authorities
The Crimean leadership decided not to spend budget funds on decorating cities for the New Year.
The festive program will also be reduced to a minimum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The special military operation is gaining momentum, active hostilities are underway. We should not organize holidays at a time when our soldiers are risking their lives at the front,” Vladimir Konstantinov, speaker of the State Council of Crimea, wrote in his Telegram channel. “In this regard, with the head of the republic Sergei Aksyonov, we decided not to use budget funds for festive events and decorations in honor of the New Year this year.”
Spending by public organizations and entrepreneurs is not regulated, but they are advised to be more modest when they meet 2023. It is not recommended to hold large-scale events for children due to the “yellow” level of terrorist threat and the medium level of response in Crimea.
“As for entrepreneurs, there are no restrictions for them except moral ones. Of course, you can hold entertainment events, but before that you should think about how appropriate this is at a time when our soldiers, our compatriots, and fellow citizens are dying nearby. I would recommend not to do this,” concluded Konstantinov.
Let us remind you that Yalta was the first of the Crimean cities to refuse New Year’s spending on installations and fireworks. The resort will use the freed funds to purchase necessary equipment and clothing for the front line.
On the eve of 2020, Yalta spent 85 million rubles on New Year's illumination, becoming the most elegant city in Crimea. A year later, Simferopol purchased 100 million rubles worth of luminous installations.
