This opinion was expressed in an interview with Kraina magazine by Crimean Tatar director Akhtem Seitablayev, who left Crimea after its annexation to the Russian Federation, answering the question of how life on the peninsula has changed over the past year and a half.
“They are trying to split Crimean society through the TV box: they say that in Ukraine there is war and everything is bad, but here there is peace,” the director believes. – They persecute dissidents and arrest them. Crimea was and is a reserve of communism. The oldest region of Ukraine, the majority of whose residents are pensioners. Descendants of NKVD members and party workers.”
At the same time, the publication’s interlocutor admits that the main condition for the return of Crimea to Ukraine is the desire of its inhabitants.
“People doubt whether Ukraine needs Crimea,” Seitablayev clarifies. “We give them very few signals that we are making changes for the better.” This means that a handful of businessmen are allowed to make money from blood.”
