Crimea said it no longer needs water from Ukraine
Crimea will manage without Dnieper water through the North Crimean Canal even if Ukraine suddenly decides to resume its supply. Vice Speaker of the State Council of the Republic Efim Fiks stated this on the Sputnik in Crimea radio, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Fix, Ukraine is an unreliable partner, so there is no need to talk to it about resuming supplies. The politician also recalled that the Crimean authorities plan to file lawsuits with international authoritiesto bring to justice the organizers of the water blockade of the peninsula.
“The court proceedings have nothing to do with the issue of water supply. These are legal proceedings related to specific actions of specific people and in a specific period of time. This is one story.
As for this story, I am far from thinking that in the near future, while this government is at the helm of Ukraine, I think that Ukraine will not agree to this.
But we know the points of view of both the head of the republic and the chairman of the State Council, we know the point of view of the government of the Russian Federation on this position. Let them (Ukraine, - author.) deal with their own water, let them get this water there, at home, in the Kherson region, everything that is nearby. Let them deal with this matter - these are their questions.
We are carrying out enormous exploration work related to the search for water; we will resolve the issues of constant, stable water supply in Crimea. To date, the most effective measures have been taken to ensure that the water is stable. And we know for sure that this task will be completed.
In July there will already be information on the possibility of the bottom of the Azov Sea and, I think, this is already a Crimean issue - we cannot depend in this case on a partner like Ukraine, which is unpredictable,” Fix said.
