Crimeans will exchange Ukrainian documents for Russian ones for free
Moscow - Simferopol, January 23 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - The Ministry of Finance made a proposal to issue foreign passports, driver's licenses, registration documents for cars and license plates free of charge to Russian citizens in Crimea, they report "News". This norm will affect those who had similar Ukrainian documents. All other Russians in Crimea will process documents at new government rates.

The proposal of the Ministry of Finance was formalized in the corresponding draft amendments to the federal law “On the admission of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation and the formation of new entities within the Russian Federation - the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol.”
“To exempt from payment of state duty persons applying to the territorial bodies of the Federal Migration Service of Russia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and Rostekhnadzor in the territories of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol for the commission of legally significant actions related to the issuance of a foreign passport (including a new generation), a national driver’s license, as well as registration documents and state registration plates for vehicles, since at the time of submitting the relevant applications they had valid above-mentioned documents issued to them in Ukraine, before their acquisition of Russian citizenship,” the bill says.
As the authors of the document explain, the law will be extended to persons recognized as citizens of the Russian Federation in accordance with Part 1 of Art. 4 Federal Law “On the admission of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation and the formation of new entities within the Russian Federation - the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol.”
