“The introduction of new unilateral sanctions against the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol by the United States and the European Union is direct evidence of the West’s recognition that the decision of the Crimeans to reunite with Russia was unanimous and voluntary. Therefore, the “punishment” was chosen collectively. By the way, knowledge of history at least at the level of a high school textbook allows you to remember who and when introduced collective punishments against entire nations. It’s sad that countries that call themselves democracies resort to such methods in the XNUMXst century,” the commentary says.
