Crimeans who live in the Russian Federation outside the peninsula can obtain a Russian passport at the nearest FMS office. The head of the Department for organizing passport work of the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation, Fedor Karpovets, stated this at a press conference in Simferopol.
According to him, residents of Crimea can contact any structural unit of the Federal Migration Service on the territory of the Russian Federation, and employees are obliged to accept their documents and issue them a passport of a Russian citizen.
“But it will take some time to receive an official response and confirm his registration in Crimea and identify him as an individual. When issuing passports, we do not require any certificates. We only need a person’s statement, his national document, photograph, birth certificate and, if available, a certificate of marriage or divorce,” noted Fedor Karpovets
