At the same time, at the sites of the international economic forum in St. Petersburg, a number of operators said that they could not make up their minds, the head of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Nikolai Nikiforov noted in a conversation with journalists.
“But someone has already decided,” the minister noted. – The conditions for mobile operators to come to the peninsula are created by the regulator. Our task is to ensure that service users do not suffer. We don’t want anyone’s phone or SIM card to stop working. Therefore, we set this task for operators. Even if the introduction of Russian SIM cards in Crimea begins, the networks will continue to serve old SIM cards.”
The Minister is confident that it will be possible to implement the possibility of operating Crimean numbers with the +38 prefix and new Russian numbers in the same network:
“Although formally this will already be considered international roaming, the subscriber will not be charged additional fees for carrying traffic through networks. The most important thing is that the residents of the peninsula do not feel any inconvenience,” explained Nikolai Nikiforov.
