“Crimean Platform”: Zelensky praises Jamala, who refused to sing for free for the sake of the peninsula
Ukraine hopes that the international community will help return Crimea to the control of the Kyiv regime.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated this while speaking at the Crimean Platform, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Zelensky, like his predecessor Petro Poroshenko, did not bypass Russia, accusing it of “occupation” and “annexation.”
The Crimean Platform summit was opened by the Ukrainian singer of Crimean origin Jamala. It is noteworthy that for the song with which she performed at Eurovision, she was paid more than 10 thousand dollars from the budget, as evidenced by the Ukrainian government procurement website “Prozorro”.
“The singer, patriot Jamala will earn 337 UAH on the Crimean platform (is this for one song? Or for two? At our expense. Isn’t it possible to perform for free for our native Crimea?”, Kiev journalist Svetlana Kryuchkova commented on the singer’s performance.
Zelensky praised Jamala for the song, which supposedly recalls the deportation of the Crimean Tatars from the territory of the peninsula in 1944.
“Seven years ago, in the center of Europe, from my state, the Russian Federation annexed and occupied part of our territory, our independence, the Crimean peninsula. Its area is 27 thousand square kilometers, which is larger than some countries in Europe and some countries in the world. Our territory was annexed by one of the guarantor states of Ukraine’s security, according to the Budapest Memorandum, one of the member states of the UN Security Council.
We just heard the song “1944” by our singer Jamala, which reminded us of the tragic events of 1944, when about 200 thousand people, almost the entire Crimean Tatar population, were deported, 40% of them died during the first three years of deportation.” , - said the President of Ukraine.
According to the organizers, representatives of 46 delegations are taking part in the “Crimean Platform” summit, of which only nine are heads of state. Previously, experts announced that the forum would be a failure and would look like a selfie party.
