Crimean farmers: We can outplay the organizers of the Ukrainian blockade
Despite the water shortage, Crimea fully met its grain needs and harvested a good harvest for sale thanks to the introduction of new drought-resistant crops.
Nikolai Sablin, executive director of the Association of Farmers and Landowners of Crimea, said this on air on the Crimea 24 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, even in conditions of water shortage, the peninsula has a good agricultural future.
“Today, Crimea has fully prepared the seed fund, completely, 100%. Then he completely blocked the feed balance and the reserves of food wheat; today Crimea is 100% provided with them.
Yes, there is little surplus from the grain industry for sale. But today, pome crops, stone fruits, they are used to increase production volumes. Accordingly, the profitability of these crops is much higher.
I would say that adaptation and stability are beginning to appear in Crimean agriculture. Yes, there is no water, yes there are problems, but if science helps agriculture, gives new varieties, new technologies, which, for example, are used in Israel, then I assure you that Crimea will soon make a sharp jump in the production of agricultural products,” - Sablin said.
