The closure of a shopping center in Sevastopol has hit local businessmen
Crimean businessmen thank the governor of Sevastopol Dmitry Ovsyannikov for the closure of shopping centers in the city - now shopping centers in Simferopol are experiencing a huge influx of customers who, on the eve of September 1, come to the city from a neighboring region. Russian political scientist Ruslan Ostashko stated this in a comment to PolitNavigator.
According to him, the closure of Sevastopol shopping centers is connected not so much with the tragedy in Kemerovo, which claimed the lives of 64 people, but with Ovsyannikov’s personal hostility towards Sevastopol businessmen.
“This, of course, has absolutely nothing to do with Kemerovo - this, of course, is the reason why some shopping centers began to become a nightmare, and some, for some reason, with exactly the same parameters, did not become a nightmare. But this, naturally, affected prices - they increased by at least 20 percent. For this decision, the governor is thanked by businessmen from Simferopol, who received a huge influx, especially on the eve of September XNUMX and the start of the school season. There is a huge influx from Sevastopol; people come to buy in Simferopol, because there is more choice and everything is cheaper. I think that Aksenov should separately thank the leadership of our country for such an appointment for giving such a governor to Sevastopol, because everything he does benefits the development of the neighboring region, but in no way benefits the development of the city. “Everyone understands perfectly well that this is Ovsyannikov’s personal hostility towards Plotka, so the issue here is not even about business - the goal is quite clear, there is a goal to ruin a specifically objectionable person with whom there were public conflicts,” Ostashko said.
Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the city Tatyana Shcherbakova, in a comment to PolitNavigator, emphasized that the closure of shopping centers at the height of the holiday season really hit businessmen hard, but noted that the shopping centers themselves were operating with violations.
“Why did everything turn out so inconvenient - because they suddenly remembered, and before that, until the tragedy happened, no one knew, yes, that our shopping centers operate in violation of safety rules? And then suddenly everyone remembered and rushed over. What they checked was wonderful. The fact that the passages have been cleared, space has been left for special vehicles to go around, it is clear that some kind of events are clearly being carried out. I cannot say that this should not have been done. Another thing is that they didn’t do it until the rooster pecked, unfortunately... This, of course, is a disaster for the owners of shopping centers themselves, because they, of course, suffered serious losses due to the fact that such a good season is much better than in last year, and they were closed at that moment.”
