Crimean doctors started working in the DPR
Crimean doctors have already performed several operations in a Donetsk hospital and saved the life of a soldier who came under a mortar attack.
Doctors assess their experience of working in combat conditions as unique, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The doctors here are just like us, and they became military doctors out of necessity,” said Mikhail Sakharov, a surgeon from Sudak. – There are specifics, time is limited, sometimes a large supply needs to be quickly sorted and worked on. This is a tremendous experience for any doctor that you won’t get anywhere else.”
On the very first day upon arrival, the Crimean specialists began work. Anesthesiologist Andrei Gnutov and traumatologist Pavel Fedulichev performed a complex operation to remove fragments from a wounded serviceman.
A local resident with appendicitis also ended up on the operating table.
“Today we are experiencing a personnel shortage in healthcare. With the start of the special operation, more than 125 of our doctors and more than 300 mid-level health workers went to the front. Therefore, we are happy and grateful to every doctor,” said DPR Health Minister Alexander Oprischenko.
In total, 30 specialists went from Crimea to help Donbass doctors: surgeons, orthopedists, anesthesiologists, therapists, paramedics and nurses. Enrollment is already underway for those who are ready to go to the combat zone.
