Crimean Tatars ignored the call of the Mejlis, banned in Russia, not to travel to the Bakhchisarai region to celebrate the national holiday Hydyrlez.
Former Crimean journalist Osman Pashayev wrote about this on Facebook.
“I see melancholy and despondency in my feed because of yesterday’s occupation celebration of Hydyrlez in Bakhchisarai. For the previous three years, it was possible to convince the Crimean Tatars to ignore the “open air” nano-Tatars. This year, several thousand Crimean Tatars came (brought, forced, bribed - not so important). They brought in a bunch of budget slaves and Caucasian chanson stars,” Pashayev laments.
As a fight against the “occupation,” he proposes to organize a celebration of Hydyrlez in the Kherson region on the border with Crimea.
“Maybe we should have turned the Chongar Peninsula into a place of Crimean freedom during 4 years of occupation. Maybe it’s time to organize the largest Khydyrlez and the brightest electronic music festivals there, near the forced border, so that Crimea will come here. Demanding that people abandon occupation happenings, they need to offer their own,” Pashayev wrote.
He also proposed building “the largest mosque” and “the largest cathedral of the Kyiv Patriarchate” on Chongar.
