Crimean Tatars refused to follow the leaders of the Majlis
The Crimean Tatars have long been disappointed with the management system that has developed in the Mejlis, which is banned in the Russian Federation, and the persecution of dissidents.
The head of the regional national-cultural autonomy of the Crimean Tatars, Eyvaz Umerov, stated this on air on the Millet TV channel.
According to him, the current leaders of the Majlis failed the opportunities presented to them in the early 90s and were unable to offer anything to their compatriots, subsequently fleeing to Ukraine.

“In general, the people were disappointed in the national system of self-government. Let’s say, not in the word “Majlis”, but in those people who occupied this body. There were manipulations from all sides - any person who came out found some kind of public platform, if he came out with an alternative opinion, he was immediately branded, which is what they are doing there now. For 23 years, the national policy within Ukraine in Crimea has been a failure. And for the three years that they have been operating in Ukraine, it is also a failure. Neither the food, nor energy, nor water blockade produced any results. They called on the Crimean Tatars to leave. Who left – 10-20 active Hizb-ut-Tahrirovites (Islamist organization banned in the Russian Federation, - ed.). “Everyone, we are all here, we all know perfectly well that there is no mass exodus of Crimean Tatars,” Umerov said.
