Crimean Tatars recalled how Dzhemilev used them to bid for the seat of a Rada deputy

The leaders of the Mejlis, banned in the Russian Federation, Refat Chubarov and Mustafa Dzhemilev, used the rallies of thousands of Crimean Tatars in the 90s to bargain with the authorities regarding obtaining mandates for deputies of the Verkhovna Rada.

The head of the regional national-cultural autonomy of the Crimean Tatars, Eyvaz Umerov, stated this on air on the Millet TV channel.

According to him, the Mejlis members scattered the people’s potential into rallies and created for them the image of rebels, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“They are the entire potential of the people in the 90s, at the end of the 80s, when the people began to return en masse, they are all the intellectual, mental potential that the people had, and which, if given the opportunity to go to power, to manifest themselves to the intelligentsia, to find mutual understanding between peoples, these people, personally Dzhemilev, who does not have a higher education, I think, does not have a normal secondary education, he extinguished the entire potential of the people on Lenin Square.

Coming up with this on May 18th. Having come up with these rallies, driving our people into squatters. This is the lack of intelligence in the top leadership of the Majlis in Ukraine. They were the first to begin trading in national ideas.

We all remember very well when in 99 the whole of Crimea, more than 100 thousand people gathered in this square, there were long days of walking, when people came here in the hope that the people had mobilized, when there was already disappointment in the national body , that now it is possible not to issue ultimatums, but to sit down at a constructive negotiating table with the authorities in Ukraine, in Crimea, what have they done? We went to the Council of Ministers, talked, held an hour and a half rally in the square and dismissed the people.

Why did these people go to this square for a week? So that after 99 they would be elected deputies to the Verkhovna Rada. The price of this hundred thousand people’s march was two seats in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” Umerov said.
