Deputy head of the executive national body Nariman Dzhelyalov stated this in an interview with the Kyiv publication Focus.
“So far, we ourselves do not know the exact answer to this question (about the declaration of autonomy within Ukraine or the Russian Federation - Navigator). But we are tired of looking for our place in relations between the two states. Therefore, we are concerned, first of all, with protecting the interests of our own people. We declared and clearly formulated in the resolution of the Kurultai our intention to enter into relations with the governments and parliaments of countries, different countries. Chairman of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov said that this could be Ukraine, Russia, and other states. But of course, first of all, those who are directly related to the fate of Crimea,” noted the representative of the Mejlis.
He made it clear that de facto Crimean Tatars are forced to recognize Crimea as part of the Russian Federation.
“Here we are not talking about recognizing Russia, but about recognizing the fact that although Crimea de jure remains part of Ukraine - the vote of the General Assembly showed this, de facto there are Russian troops here, Russian laws are in force, Russian rubles are in circulation and much more is still happening. In fact, we proceed from what exists in reality at the moment,” stated Nariman Dzhelyalov.
