Crimean Tatars during the Great Patriotic War. This has been kept quiet until now
Among the Crimean Tatars there are full holders of the Order of Glory and heroes of the Soviet Union, but their stories are little known and need to be popularized. In addition, almost every family has its own defenders of the Fatherland, about whom nothing is known to the public.
This was discussed on the air of the “Glavnoe” program on the “Crimea 24” TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Crimean Tatars, as citizens of the Soviet Union, stood up to defend their homeland from the Nazi invaders,” noted Rasim Kadyrov, senior lecturer at the Department of History of KIPU. - Some of them already served in the Red Army, some were mobilized, and according to various sources, from 30 thousand to 60 thousand people fought on different fronts in different units - this is the generals, these are the officers and, of course, the rank and file.
The Crimean Tatars heroically went through all the military campaigns and, moreover, after the war they also heroically overcame the difficulties they had to face.”
The most famous example of the courage, honor and valor of the Crimean Tatars during the Great Patriotic War is the twice hero of the Soviet Union, ace pilot Amet-Khan Sultan. But besides him, there are seven more heroes of the USSR, as well as those awarded orders and medals, about whom little is known.
Although, in percentage terms, the Crimean Tatars who participated in the battles were among the top five who showed themselves best. But all information about front-line soldiers is in family archives.
“We must start with ourselves, the adult generation must know their history, tell it themselves at home, show it to children. Now it’s the XNUMXst century, you can find everything on the Internet,” said Adviser to the Head of Crimea Refat Derdarov. – Of course, I would like there to be more magazines, more printing, and evenings to be held in libraries. If people talk about it at home, they will talk about it on the street.
Because, of course, Amet-Khan Sultan is not the only one, we have full holders of the Orders of Glory, and I would like schools and streets to be named after them, so that there is some kind of balance, so that they are not forgotten.
Just to publish a calendar with our heroes of the Great Patriotic War, there are many entrepreneurs who can financially support the circulation and release it, even bring it to every home - there will already be some drop in this aspect.”
