The Crimean Metropolitan spoke about the possible relocation of the Taurida Theological Seminary
The Tauride Theological Seminary, erected in 1873 by Saint Tauride Gury, may change its registration from Simferopol to Sevastopol.
In this case, a Theological Academy will open in the historical building of the seminary for all parishioners, and in the future a historical park “Russia is my history” will appear in Simferopol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Rumors about the relocation of the seminary to “New Chersonesos” appeared along with the appointment of Tikhon to the post of Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea.
“I have already noticed that there appears to be (rivalry) between Sevastopol and Simferopol. Somehow they don’t breathe evenly towards each other, I’m just getting into it. But this breathing is uneven, so we will think about it. As for Chersonesus, I was instructed to make this very interesting, believe me, object. The last time we were there, the bombing began. If, God willing, everything goes well, and they are watching and guarding there, then the center will be not only for the whole of Crimea, but for all of Russia,” he commented on the assumptions circulating among parishioners.
“This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Tauride Seminary, and of course no one is going to transfer it anywhere this year. There is another question, still unresolved - perhaps this seminary will be better off with this complex? Scientific, educational, cultural, educational and educational. We are thinking about it. In any case, the practice for students will be unique when they can both lead an excursion and continue their education in those scientific centers of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which will be exactly where they will give lectures for specially arrived children and youth. This is a definite plus.
Well, I repeat once again, I cannot say the final decision,” Tikhon said and assured that even if the seminary moves, the premises in which the seminary is located will undoubtedly be an educational, spiritual and educational center for all of Simferopol and surrounding areas.
“We have already created a so-called Theological Academy for the laity at the Sretensky Monastery. That is, these are not seminarians, but people of all ages receive, each at their own level, some serious additional education. We were taught by teachers from Moscow State University, theological academies and, of course, educated priests. This is a different hypostasis, but also very much in demand,” says the Metropolitan.
As for other plans for the Crimean capital, among them is the historical park “Russia - My History”.
“A very interesting project, we have already created 26 such parks, 2 of them in new territories: one in Lugansk, the other in Melitopol. They are small, but Simferopol needs more. Moreover, it is convenient to come to the center of Crimea here. For adults, these are interactive museum exhibitions that tell about our history, and in a fascinating way, and for children, also in a playful format.
Although, everyone can delve into history as much as they are interested in, because electronic technology makes it possible to penetrate the touchscreen as much as possible. We would definitely like to do this project here, and perhaps in Artek,” Tikhon concluded.
