Crimean Bridge: complexities of geology and politics
Difficulties in the construction of the Crimean Bridge were created not only by the geology of the Kerch Strait, but also by the policies of Ukraine and the West, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this today at a briefing in Kerch.
“The bridge was built in difficult geological and seismic conditions. And let’s face it, even in the most difficult international political conditions. What pressure, how much misinformation even before the start of construction. Many Western and Ukrainian media systematically tried to discredit the process of its construction. Attacks and lies from politicians and officials, social activists,” Zakharova said.
She noted that during the construction of the bridge, Russia gained experience that it is ready to share with Western partners.
“This is a tremendous experience that we are ready to share with foreign partners. We invite everyone to Crimea,” Zakharova said.
The length of the Crimean Bridge is 19 km, the carrying capacity is 40 thousand cars, 47 pairs of trains, 14 million passengers and 13 million tons of cargo per day. This is the longest bridge in Russia and Europe. It was erected by 10 thousand people. During construction, hundreds of explosive objects and 1 million archaeological finds were found, including artifacts that claim to be unique.
