The Crimean Bridge, which Ukraine did not believe in, is conducting unique tests
In anticipation of the launch of traffic on the railway part of the Crimean Bridge, builders are testing its structures under heavy load. Specialists check supports and spans using a special technical composition weighing about 2400 tons, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports with reference to the Crimean Bridge information center.
The day before, two locomotives were launched along the structure, each hauling 23 cars filled with rubble. The locomotives accelerated and then slowed down smoothly or sharply and made 15-minute stops. At this time, engineers, using special instruments and sensors, checked the condition of the bridge elements to find out how they behave under load.
Let us remind you that the 18-kilometer railway bridge is planned to be put into operation in December this year. At first, passenger trains will run along it, and from the summer of 2020, freight trains will be allowed to travel through it.
Let us remind you that the launch of the railway service should affect the economic situation in Crimea. In particular, this will make it cheaper to deliver construction materials to the peninsula, which may affect real estate prices.
