All journalists referred as a source to a post on Facebook by a certain Roman Koval, who in turn referred to his acquaintance in Sevastopol. “Died at the hands of the Russian occupiers,” allegedly an active member of Prosvita, Sergei Kanikovsky, born in 1942. He was thrown from the 13th floor of a building on Kesaev Street.
Crimean social activist Alexander Talipov decided to understand the situation. He found out that Kanikovsky did not live at the address indicated in the post, but found his son through the telephone directory.
“The alleged murder of his father came as a huge surprise to him. In addition, for the first time he heard that his father was hanging Ukrainian flags. Once upon a time my father was indeed an active member of Prosvita, but in recent years he was seriously ill. He has problems with the blood vessels in his head, and sometimes he loses orientation in space. The son assumes that this is how he came out from the 17th floor,” Talipov said in an interview with Anatoly Shariy.
The son of the deceased also suggested who could have become the source of fake information: at the morgue he met an activist of Prosvita named Claudia and shared his grief with her.
