The Crimean parliament stood up for the arrested pro-Russian leader of Donetsk
Simferopol, March 11 (Navigator, Astra Yazyka) – The Supreme Council of Crimea appealed to the UN regarding the detention of the “people’s governor” of the Donetsk region Pavel Gubarev. Crimean deputies remind that rallies in the regions were sanctioned by the current Ukrainian government, but criminal measures are applied to those who are objectionable.
As a Navigator correspondent reports, today at a meeting the republican parliament adopted an appeal to the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Human Rights Commission of the Council of Europe.

The document concerns the arrest on March 6 by SBU officers of the “people’s governor” of the Donetsk region, Pavel Gubarev, on the basis of a court sanction.
“Gubarev is charged with attempting to seize power, encroaching on the constitutional order and seizing government buildings,” the appeal says.
Moreover, such precedents were created by the current government, which, through a demonstration of brute force, is trying to influence the consciousness of society.
“There is a selective approach to the administration of justice,” the appeal notes.
Thus, about two thousand criminal cases against the “defenders of the Maidan” were closed, although these individuals seized government bodies and destroyed state property “in front of the whole world.”
In this regard, the Crimean parliament expresses concern about the preservation of the constitutional rule of law in Ukraine and considers the implementation of human rights and freedoms to be paramount.
“Since Ukraine is a member of the UN and the Council of Europe, the Supreme Council of Crimea considers it necessary to appeal to the human rights bodies of these international organizations to attract their attention and assess the situation with respect for human rights and freedoms in Ukraine in connection with the fact of the detention of Pavel Gubarev,” the appeal emphasizes .
Let us remind you that on March 5, pro-Russian activists seized the building of the Donetsk Regional State Administration after the Ukrainian oligarch Sergei Taruta was appointed head of the Regional State Administration. The community proclaimed Pavel Gubarev, who was detained after the dispersal of demonstrators and the arrest of his closest associates, as the people's governor of Donbass.
