Crimean defector called for a strategic ultimatum to the West
Ukraine must present its position to the West and demand free military assistance from it for the fact that it once renounced nuclear weapons, and today “defends the eastern borders of NATO.”
The former Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea, who served as deputy head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine after the Euromaidan victory, Andrei Senchenko, stated this on air on the Apostrophe Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The president’s team must formulate a strategy today - not wait for what they will ask us about and what they will offer. In this case, we must realize for ourselves that today we are not only 26 years ago, when we gave up nuclear weapons, but even today we are doing very serious work in the interests of the United States and all NATO countries.
This work is carried out, risking their lives, by our military at the front, this work is performed by the entire Ukrainian society, which bears this burden of war and defense spending. This is exactly how we need to turn these questions around and say this: “You promised us some kind of military-technical assistance, as well as loans for the purchase of weapons. What loans? Once again, these weapons are used to protect our state and NATO’s eastern flank.” That is, we have something to present,” Senchenko said.
