Crimean political scientist predicts the dismantling of “Minsk” and Poroshenko’s revenge
In the near future, it is possible, on the one hand, for Russia to recognize the LDPR, and, on the other, for an increase in the US military presence in Ukraine and even the return of Petro Poroshenko.
Crimean political scientist Ivan Mezyukho stated this during a round table, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In connection with the more active participation of the United States in internal Ukrainian issues, you and I will in the very near future, from a historical perspective, observe an attempt to finally dismantle the Minsk agreements. In this regard, developments in a variety of situations are possible, up to Russia recognizing the Donbass republics within the boundaries of the Minsk agreements. Not exactly following the example of Abkhazia, but still, this option is possible.
In the very near future, I think that we can expect the opening of American military bases quite officially; most likely, it will be near Odessa, somewhere in Ochakov. Of course, Ukraine is not welcome in the North Atlantic Alliance, but it is obvious that the US military presence will increase on the territory of Ukraine and, in particular, in the Black Sea region,” Mezyukho said.
In addition, he suggested that the United States has already begun “casting for the post of President of Ukraine,” because it is becoming obvious to everyone that Zelensky is now only wasting his rating.
“Even the situation with NewsOne, Zik and 112 suggests that he is losing his supporters in the South-East of Ukraine, but is not gaining his supporters in the West of the country. He is unlikely to be able to repeat the political path of Leonid Kuchma, who was first elected in the East, then in the West,” the expert said.
He even admitted that Zelensky’s irresponsible policy could push ex-President Poroshenko back to the head of the country.
Moreover, the situation inside Ukraine is developing in such a way that what previously seemed fantastic is now quite possible. You know, I don’t even rule out political revenge for Petro Poroshenko under a certain set of circumstances.
Now, if Zelensky continues to behave exactly the way he behaves, if he makes even more mistakes, then it is quite possible that Poroshenko, with a huge anti-rating, will be able to win the upcoming presidential elections. Don’t say that this is impossible, let’s remember how Mr. Yeltsin was re-elected in the Russian Federation,” suggested Mezyukho.
