Crimean political scientist: Ukraine will continue to try to use the “fifth column”
In Crimea, Russian counterintelligence will have plenty of work to do in the near future, since the anti-Russian regime ruling in Ukraine will not abandon attempts to use its “fifth column” on the peninsula.
Crimean political scientist Alexander Formanchuk told PolitNavigator about this, commenting on today’s news of the detention in Simferopol of two citizens who spied for Ukraine.

“This is a systemic problem, it is not random. From time to time we witness such stories appear. Here it is necessary to note the good work of the FSB.
But I am convinced that it was, is and will continue to be. In the situation of difficult relations with Ukraine, the aggressive policy that they are implementing today along the entire perimeter of the border with Russia... Therefore, this is an important element of our security.
The fact that there is a “fifth column” in Crimea is undeniable; the fact that Ukraine is trying to use it and will use it is also undeniable.
We live in a world where confrontation and hostility unfortunately dominate common sense politics. Until we resolve relations with Ukraine at a basic level, such cases will continue,” Formanchuk said.
