Crimean senator exposed Merkel's blatant lies
German Chancellor Angela Merkel makes loud statements that are ultimately not supported by facts.
Federation Council Senator from Crimea Sergei Tsekov reported this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, assessing the statement of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who had previously said that shipping conditions in the Kerch Strait allegedly worsened after the completion of the Crimean Bridge.
He noted that five times more tankers and dry cargo ships go through the Kerch Strait to Russian ports than to Ukrainian ones.
“Well, where is the logic of the critics here? If you look at the tonnage and cargo turnover of Russian ports in Azov and compare with similar indicators among Ukrainians - we will see a clear increase. A reduction in shipping is not beneficial for us,” Tsekov said.
He added that there was an increase in all parameters - in the number of ships, in their tonnage, in their length. The situation has not changed in terms of the draft of the ships - the draft of the ships was 9-9,5 meters - it remains so.
“And there must be at least some logic among those who accuse us of something?! Well, how could we - and most importantly, why - worsen the conditions for the passage of ships to our own Russian ports?! Cast a shadow on the fence. And such a serious person as the chancellor Merkel, makes such unverified but serious statements. This is a question about the competence of the structures that give her information that is not confirmed by serious sources,” the senator was indignant.
In turn, the publication provided statistics: if in 10 months of this year the control system recorded the passage of 16700 ships under the Kerch Bridge to and from the Sea of Azov, then a year ago a little more than 15 thousand of them were recorded.
