The Crimean tourist industry risks making money this season, but digging a hole for itself
The current tourist season for Crimea will be decisive - if hoteliers do not inflate prices and are able to win over vacationers, then next season, when the borders are open, visitors will return to them again.
Natalya Stambulnikova, Chairman of the Association of Small Hotels of Crimea, stated this on air on the First Sevastopol TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
She emphasized that today there are cases where hotel owners cancel early, cheaper reservations for tourists, hoping to sell rooms at a higher price during the high season. For such entrepreneurs, next year will be a year of “fall”.
“We understand perfectly well that sensible entrepreneurs, homeowners, including small properties, understand that this year is unprecedented, non-exemplary, when our guests are on vacation, when there is a choice without a choice, as they say.
Next year will be indicative, just how we work out the season... But I know that there are such precedents, but this, again, is of a local nature, when early bookings were canceled, people’s money was returned, but directly, so that it would be massive, I don’t see this... I can say that they are digging a hole for themselves, that’s all. This year will be a year of growth for them, and the next year will be a year of decline. That’s why I’m not worried about this year, I tell everyone that guys, think about the next one,” Stambulnikova said.
As PolitNavigator reported, the cost of holidays in some hotels in Crimea has risen by 200% this year, but even so, finding and booking available rooms for the summer is already problematic.
