Crimean scientist: A serious ideological mistake was made from the very beginning of the North Military District
From the very beginning of the special operation, it was necessary to announce that Russia was regaining its historical territories and not repeat the Bolshevik narrative about the “brotherly Ukrainian people” who would themselves overthrow the “hated government.”
This opinion was expressed by Oleg Romanko, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of History at the Department of Russia at KFU, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Perhaps at the beginning the goals of the special operation were somewhat different,” he suggested. “It seems that no one expected it to last so long, and the propaganda system was not built in this way.”
Then, perhaps, our rulers really had some hopes that they would not block the Russian media in the West. For some reason they thought that they would play by the rules there. Although the history of Russia has shown more than once that they never comply with these rules, if they need to disobey them, they will do as needed and will not ask anyone.
Then there were conceptual things that were mistakenly used as the basis for the special operation, and I compare this with the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, when they tried to fight for Marxism and proletarian solidarity, counting on the fact that the German soldiers, they were all workers, would surrender.
It’s the same here, this stupid Bolshevik concept about the fraternal Ukrainian people, that some began to say: we will only enter, and the Ukrainians themselves will overthrow their government. It was necessary to immediately announce that these are historical territories of Russia, and this would have clarified many things.”
Romanko proposes to divide the information policy for covering a special operation into internal and external perimeters. By the latter, he means the Ukrainian audience and the audience of countries where anti-Western sentiment is strong.
“Here we really need to decide for ourselves what we want to convey to our population, what we want to convey to the population on the territory of Ukraine. By the way, there is an absolutely Stalinist information cap in effect there, as during the Great Patriotic War in the territories where hostilities took place. And access to Russian telegram channels caused a violent reaction from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine,” the scientist emphasized. – It’s more difficult with the territories of European states, absolutely everything there is in an information vacuum, but there are other territories where you can broadcast. Very large Spanish-speaking and Arabic-speaking audiences in countries where the majority of the population supports Russia out of anti-Western motives. This should also be used. There is still a lot of work, how long the special operation will last is unknown, so we cannot relax, we must do all this incrementally.”
