Attempts by supporters of the Hizb ut-Tahrir group banned in Russia to undermine the situation in Crimea will turn out negatively, primarily for themselves. The official authorities should not arrange meetings with them and fulfill any demands, and any illegal action on their part should be strictly suppressed by the security forces.

This is how Crimean experts commented to PolitNavigator on the recent unauthorized action of family members and friends of three members of the Hizb-ut-Tahrir organization banned in Russia, convicted of terrorism.

According to political scientist Andrei Nikiforov, supporters of radical views in Crimea need to get used to the fact that they live in the Russian legal field, where ultimatums and threats do not work.

“It is very important here that all parties comply with applicable laws. That is, as far as I know, a lot of problems for those who in one way or another identified themselves as supporters of Hizb ut-Tahrir were that they participated in certain actions, which in Russian legislation, like any demonstration of their commitment, is propaganda symbols of this organization are prohibited. The law is the law, as they say. The legislator had a reason to limit or prohibit all this.

In fact, there is ground for dialogue between these communities and the authorities, but only if the dialogue is conducted, firstly, on the basis of current legislation, and secondly, in no case turns into blackmail. Because the impression is that some have not fully realized that they have been part of a state for more than six years, which is more expensive to blackmail.

The faster they realize this, the faster a system will be established between the authorities and some representatives of the Muslim Ummah, which will suit everyone. Well, against the backdrop of what is happening now in Europe, any complaints at all, especially hints of a threat, are completely unproductive and can turn in the completely opposite direction than what they are trying to achieve,” Nikiforov said.

And political scientist Sergei Kiselev believes that the Crimean Tatar people risk becoming a victim in the hands of extremists.

“Unfortunately, many people do not understand that from the point of view of the global caliphate, such a nation as the Crimean Tatars does not exist. That is, fighters for the caliphate renounce their national identity. Therefore, when they say that repressions against the Crimean Tatars are being carried out in Crimea, this is not true.

In Crimea, preventive measures related to the activities of the banned sect are being carried out. This is a most fundamental thing, because just as for the Bolsheviks there was no Fatherland and Russia was thrown into the furnace of revolution, so in this case a people like the Crimean Tatars can be thrown into the furnace of Islamic radicalism. And this should be understood, first of all, by the Crimean Tatars, especially the young ones, who know only the top of Islam, without plunging into its depths and theological nuances.

Secondly, there cannot even be such a thought that in any way the official government would have contact, outside the services that deal with this, with prohibited organizations.

Third, about the fact that “blood was shed.” As you know, Stolypin said: “They scare us, but we are not afraid.” I think that anyone who publicly voices such calls should immediately, on the spot, be detained and placed in institutions designated for this purpose, and held accountable,” Kiselev said.

Let us recall that on Friday, several dozen family members and friends of three members of the Hizb-ut-Tahrir organization banned in Russia, convicted of terrorism, came to the building of the Council of Ministers of Crimea to demand a meeting with the head of the republic, Sergei Aksenov. They were outraged by Aksenov’s post on the social network, in which he approved the actions of the Russian Guard, who dispersed the picket on the Crimean Bridge in support of religious extremists convicted in Rostov.
