The Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Dmitry Livanov announced this on Tuesday in Sevastopol.
Due to the differences between Russian and Ukrainian educational programs, high school students in Crimea and Sevastopol in 2014 were exempted from taking the Unified State Exam and received a preferential procedure for admission to universities.
“The special procedure for admission to universities will continue next year, 2015. As for 2016, we will still look and think about whether to make passing the Unified State Exam mandatory or not. If necessary, we will decide to extend this simplified scheme in 2016,” the minister said.
According to Livanov, this decision will depend on how prepared the 2016 graduates are for this.
Speaking about the results of admission of Crimean high school students, he noted that this year “16 thousand budget places were created for graduates of 11 grades in Crimea and Sevastopol. 1 entered Russian universities outside Crimea in 400 Russian universities.”
