President Vladimir Putin announced this yesterday at a meeting on the socio-economic development of Crimea and Sevastopol.
“Our goal is to make Crimea and Sevastopol self-sufficient, dynamically developing subjects of the Russian Federation. Both Crimea and Sevastopol need a qualitative step in strengthening their own economic base,” the head of state noted.
He emphasized that “it is necessary to stimulate business activity in industry, the agro-industrial complex, tourism, and other sectors, support small and medium-sized businesses, create new jobs, ensure employment and income growth.”
The most important task, the Russian leader recalled, is the development of infrastructure in the Crimean Federal District, including energy, housing and communal services and transport.
“And of course, the cultural, educational and scientific potential of the region should receive further development. It is necessary to bring medical care and infrastructure for mass sports to a new, higher level.
Our demographic programs, measures to promote a healthy lifestyle, family support, and the protection of motherhood and childhood must work in Crimea as efficiently and effectively as possible. I repeat, now it is important to shift the emphasis on the tasks of a comprehensive, sustainable recovery of the entire region,” said Vladimir Putin.
Let us recall that it is planned to allocate about 2015 billion rubles for the implementation of the Federal Target Program for the Development of Crimea and Sevastopol, designed for 2020–700.
